We are delighted that our Guest speaker will be Dr Vicki Karalis AM who will speak on; the significance of Beaumaris Bay natural assets and why it deserves National Heritage Listing
Associate Professor Vicki Kotsirilos AM is a respected medical practitioner, academic, Associate Professor at University of Western Sydney, a medical writer and lecturer. She as the founder and former President of the Sandringham Foreshore Association, a not-for-profit charity organization from its origins in January 2007 till October 2023 when it officially dissolved. Dr Vicki is a long-term Bayside resident of over 34 years. She was honored to submit a nomination on behalf of the wider community and consortium of over 44 organisations with the support of local and state Government, authorities, and experts such as Palaeontologists, Art Historians, Geologists, and Archaeologists to consider Beaumaris Bay for inclusion in the National Heritage list for its palaeontological, geological, artistic and indigenous significance. Dr Vicki will discuss the significance of Beaumaris Bay and what makes it special in relation to other Bayside beaches. In June 2016, Dr Vicki was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for ‘significant service to integrative medicine, to health practitioner standards and regulations, to medical education, and to the environment’. In January 2017, Dr Vicki was awarded an Australia Day Environmental Award by Bayside City Council, for “Recognising outstanding and long-term leadership, action, and advocacy for coastal and natural heritage protection in the City of Bayside, and generating community awareness of the value of our Bayside environment”
Dr Vicki’s goal and passion is driven in helping our society maintain a healthy community and population, and preserving and protecting our natural environment for our future generations to enjoy.
