About this objectThe purpose of the sea wall was to control coastal erosion and to provide a footpath. 18 known headstones from Old Melbourne Gaol were incorporated into the wall during its construction in the Great Depression. Includes photographs of headstones of Alfred Archer and Charles Henry Strange, and Ned Kelly’s grave in the gaol yard, also plans of the gaol.
