Name/TitleSocial distancing circles, Sandringham foreshore
About this objectIn mid-October 2020, during Melbourne’s second COVID-19 lockdown, Bayside Council painted social distancing circles at popular picnic spots and open spaces in Bayside. Spaced at least 1.5 metres apart, these were designed to prompt residents to maintain social distancing outdoors.
Initially they were painted at foreshore locations, such as Sandringham Beach Gardens (shown in the photo), Ferdinando Gardens in Hampton, and Black Rock Gardens. Later they were added to various popular open spaces, including Thomas Street Reserve and Basterfield Park.
