Name/TitleRio Sound & Vision closed during lockdown
About this objectThe retail sector was adversely impacted right from the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Non-essential retail outlets started to close from late March. Essential retail remained open for necessary goods and services: these included supermarkets, pharmacies, butchers, green grocers, bottle shops, petrol stations, post offices, banks, food stores, newsagents, liquor stores, and pet stores. Other retail shops were only available for delivery or contactless click and collect. This was the pattern in all of Melbourne’s lockdowns.
The photo shows a notice displayed by Rio Sound & Vision, Hampton Street, Hampton, taken on the first day of Melbourne’s fifth lockdown. It confirms the shop was closed from that day until further notice and provides contact details for inquiries.
