Name/TitleReal estate open for inspection conditions during pandemic
About this objectDuring Melbourne’s first COVID-19 lockdown real estate inspections could only take place by private appointment and auctions had to be conducted remotely. From mid-May 2020, these were permitted again but only limited numbers could attend.
Agents had to ensure COVID-safety steps were put in place to protect all involved. The photos show the terms displayed by Kay & Burton during an inspection in Carew Street, Sandringham. These included providing name and contact details, social distancing, and not touching surfaces or door handles unless supervised by the agency’s representative.
During Melbourne’s second lockdown, restrictions were tightened and inspections could only be virtual. That restriction was put in place during subsequent lockdowns too. As a consequence, there were reports of a number of properties being sold sight unseen. Buyers relied only on any virtual 3D tour and online photos. Matters were complicated during periods when professional photographers were unable to visit properties.
