Name/TitleConstruction site COVID-19 induction notice
About this objectDuring lockdowns, the restrictions on the construction industry varied. It was classified as an essential service and operated during the first lockdown, but restrictions were imposed in the second one. All employees, supervisors and onsite specialists were prohibited from car-pooling, had to limit movement between multiple sites, and implement enhanced personal protective equipment measures. In 2021, only state critical projects continued during the third lockdown. Work could continue with restrictions during the fourth and fifth lockdowns.
In September 2021, during the sixth lockdown, the government shut the industry down, citing concerns about the spread of the virus and lack of compliance on some sites. It reopened in early October, subject to conditions and restricted numbers on sites.
This notice, displayed in New Street, Hampton, sets out the site induction process from a COVID-19 perspective. It covered aspects such as social distancing, use of face masks, and minimising overlaps and numbers on site.
