Name/TitleDentist closed except for emergencies during COVID-19 pandemic
About this objectIn March 2020, the Australian Dental Association issued a system of staged restrictions to apply during the COVID-19 pandemic. The system allowed for five levels of restrictions to be used, with level five being the most extreme (no routine dental treatment to be provided).
During Melbourne’s lockdowns, level 3 restrictions (urgent treatment only) applied. At other times, level 1 was in force (restrictions for suspected/confirmed cases). Dentists were able to provide a full range of services from October 2021.
This photo shows the notice to patients displayed by dentists in Hampton, confirming the practice was closed save for emergencies. At the time, Melbourne was in the early stages of the first lockdown.
