Name/TitleMetro trains COVID-safety posters at Hampton Railway Station
About this objectAlthough trains operated on the normal timetable during the COVID-19 pandemic, many Melburnians worked from home and commuter numbers reduced considerably. Other restrictions during lockdown meant there was little use of public transport for social and leisure activities.
Those who did use trains were told to stand on escalators with four steps between them and other passengers; keep their distance from others who were waiting; take an umbrella to avoid gathering under shelters; wait for passengers to get off before boarding; keep doorways clear so people could get on and off safely; and, if a carriage was busy, to try a different door or wait for the next service.
Metro placed touchless hand sanitising stations at the busiest stations and stops. They also disinfected and sanitised all services, stops and stations every day. Metro staff would not handle cash, but it could still be used at myki card vending machines.
These posters, explaining COVID-safety measures, were displayed at Hampton Railway Station.
