About this objectClass photo of 1958 Form 5, boys, at Hampton High School. It was taken in front of the school buildings which had been extensively damaged by fire in 1957 and were in the process of being rebuilt.
The school captain, Peter Schokman, is at the centre of the front row, holding a trophy. He arrived in Australia from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) with his sister Vivienne and their Dutch parents in 1955, settling at 48 Raynes Park Road, Hampton. The siblings were part of The Colombo Plan, an Australian Government education program offering scholarship programs for students to study in Australia.
